Rockford, IL: The Caruana for Winnebago County Sheriff campaign has filed an objection to the petition submitted by Dave Fiduccia, also a candidate for the Republican nomination for Sheriff. A member of Caruana’s committee, Steve Kudzma, signed the objection and it was submitted today at 4:00pm to the Winnebago County Clerk’s office.

The Caruana campaign reviewed petitions submitted by both opponents in the Republican Primary. Fiduccia’s petitions were found to be deficient in numbers of registered voters and containing numerous fraudulent signatures including 4 sheets of 10 signatures which turned out to be photocopies of 2 sheets that were signed and sworn to by 2 Fiduccia campaign circulators and then notarized.
“We felt obligated to follow through on this objection due to the overwhelming evidence of fraud in this petition. The rules and the law clearly state that you need 465 signatures of registered voters. The Caruana campaign turned in nearly three times that number. We could not, in good conscience, allow a petition that contains so much fraud to go unchallenged,” said Jim Thacker, Caruana Campaign consultant.
